“Future Shadows,” a new slow-burner of a track from Forest Fire, churns with a background of synthesizer washes while the beat of the drums take the fore. The tempo draws the ear toward the craft of these Brooklyn musicians, who are trying to throw off the stigma associated with being another band in the borough. The quartet recently signed to veteran indie label FatCat (Animal Collective, Frightened Rabbit), which will be releasing the Forest Fire’s sophomore album, Staring At The X, on October 18.
