Film At 11: Neon Indian

Future of music, meet Mr. Alan Paloma, the sonic-genius behind Neon Indian. Remember when Thoreau locked himself in a cabin and wrote Walden? Paloma took it 21st-century style and holed himself up in an apartment in Helsinki during its short solstice days and emerged from complete and constant solitutude with synth-laden album Era Extraña (Mom + Pop Music). Neon Indian is making history in the present tense by dissecting all that we know about electronica and regurgitating something so digitally beautiful it’s hard to explain. For the video for “Polish Girl,” Paloma teamed up with the incredibly cunning and innovative Creators Project to match the audio to the visual. In such a dystopian-looking world, director Tim Nackashi manages to evoke emotion through the storyline of a humanoid trying to tap into distant and fond memories of a woman he fell in love with.
