65daysofstatic multi-instrumentalist Paul Wolinski’s first album as solo act Polinski is Labyrinth (Monotreme), an LP inspired by his appreciation for ’70s and ’80s sci-fi movies. “Tangents” is an epic trance concoction, something that would feel at home in a European dance club or a Star Trek reboot. With a sound reminiscent of Daft Punk’s album for the Tron: Legacy movie, Polinski dares to recreate expectations of how trance should sound while infusing his own childhood fascination with sci-fi. Whether astronaut, alien or plain old human, Labyrinth is worth the listen.
