The Phantom Family Halo makes the electric guitar sound heroic again. The second half of its “White Hot Gun” is composed almost entirely of some slasher-tastic six-string riffs. For the rest of the song, frontman Dominic Cipolla’s voice feels like a call to arms, inspiring listeners to get angry and rock out. In the background, the steady drums sound impressive and add to the feeling of urgency and angst. Keep an eye out for the band’s sophomore effort, When I Fall Out (Knitting Factory), which hits stores February 14.
