When we last saw Delta Spirit, the band was releasing its single for the Phoenix-inspired “California,” off its recent self-titled LP (on Rounder). Now, just a few months later, the group has issued a video for the same song, which does a brilliant job at reframing the track in a decidedly American context, almost reaching out and rescuing it from its French origins. “California” details the exploits of a band of punks on the Best Coast, focusing on one girl in particular. While “California” may be slightly predictable, it ends in a satisfying, if clichéd manner. Watch the video below.
