Five Eight’s Weirdo really does sound like something that should have been a big deal in the ‘90s. A thick onslaught of bright, spinning guitars is counterbalanced by a great sense of melody and a comparatively silky vocal styling on “Behead Myself,” a song with a titular refrain that literally screams with the self-loathing attitude of ‘90s rock. Weirdo and “Behead Myself” have just been given a second life with a remastered reissue via Chicken Ranch Records. As a result, it sounds markedly clearer and cleaner than most rock music of the era.
