In an evening of guitar masters, Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo was riveting as he coaxed exquisite sounds from his signature instrument, along with bells and more obscure objects, all perfectly timed to end with the arrival of an El train directly above the Philly venue, Jerry’s On Front.
Chris Forsyth and Loren Connors teamed up for two complementary pieces that were simultaneously minimalist and richly evocative. Alan Licht’s explorations were more aggressive and calculated, but absorbing nonetheless.
