Making music has been an all-consuming passion for Norway’s Marte Eberson, basically since birth. The daughter of accomplished jazz guitarist Jon Eberson, Marte began her formal music training at an early age, earning a bachelor’s degree from the jazz program at the University of Bergen’s prestigious Grieg Academy. Not one to be confined by genres, the keyboardist/singer/composer played an integral role in the success of Scandinavian indie-pop sensation Highasakite. Among numerous other projects, she continues to perform with her dad in the jazz-rock band Eberson.
More recently, Eberson has been establishing herself as a solo artist with an impressive creative range, from jazz and electronica to contemporary classical and sophisticated singer/songwriter fare. The yearning, robustly delivered “Paradise” leans more toward the latter. It’s the latest in a string of singles in the leadup to an upcoming LP she’s working on with help from producer Lars Voldsdal (Hellbillies, Turbonegro, Claudia Scott).
“We live in a world that’s constantly moving, filled with noise and pressure to always be doing more,” says Eberson of the simple message behind “Passion.” “I find myself craving stillness—those rare, quiet moments where everything feels present and real. This song became a way to capture that feeling, even if just for a few minutes.”
We’re proud to premiere Marte Eberson’s “Paradise.”
