Tom Waits and Beck haven’t completely used up all the world’s trashcan beats. Pennsylvania five-piece Illinois turns out its own brand of transient (we don’t like the word “hobo,” OK?) pop with The Adventures Of Kid Catastrophe. The album saw a possibly unprecedented online promotional buildup to its release, beginning in November of last year with EP and video “chapters.” The 20-song Catastrophe is out tomorrow, and Illinois will embark on a tour beginning in mid-July. MAGNET hereby premieres album track “Big Country.”
