Prolific, Philadelphia-based electro-funk record-scratcher RJD2 has called upon his alter-ego, the Insane Warrior, to unleash his latest genre-bending effort, We Are The Doorways, off his own RJ’s Electrical Connections. An entirely instrumental affair, single “The Water Wheel” is a departure from the DJ’s reliable rhythms, instead conjuring up glitchy audio specters of horror-movie scores during the Jamie Lee Curtis era. The video itself looks like he took the intro montage of The Brady Bunch and told the creator of Saw IV to “run with it.” The eerie synth, combined with the serial-killer theme, lets you know that the Insane Warrior is at-large.
