From The Desk Of The Faint: Coconut Oil

Nearly six years after the release of strangely desiccated 2008 album Fasciinatiion and one lengthy stroll down wait-is-this-a-hiatus-or-a-break-up? lane, the Faint has reemerged from the shadows to deliver up Doom Abuse—a vital, manic comeback triumph shellacked in an exquisite devil-may-fucking-care electro-sheen. Guitarist Dapose will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all wee. Read our brand new Q&A with him.

CoconutOil

Dapose: The stuff is just amazing. I only buy Dr. Bronner’s or Spectrum unrefined oils because their quality and integrity as ethical companies is what I look for in brands. Coconut oil I use first thing in the morning as an Ayurvedic mouthwash called oil pulling. You swish with the oil for 10-20 minutes and allow the oil to pull out toxins that have accumulated in the body. The natural antiseptic antimicrobial properties aid in cleaning, then you spit out the oil. A favorite way to eat coconut oil of mine is a teaspoon in my pu-erh tea in the morning with raw local honey. Mmmmmmm! So yummy. This gives you a nice blast of energy! You can cook anything with it, as it does better with high heat than olive oils. I use it in my hair instead of shampoo. My girlfriend uses it to wash off her makeup. It does a better job than any expensive products she’s bought, and she does not settle for things that don’t work. She also lets our cats lick it off her fingers when she’s working with the stuff. Im not sure who’s happier about this practice: her or the cats. Keeps their coats very clean and their hair seems to be less likely to get all over the place. It smells great, too, if you didn’t know that.
