“‘You Remain’ is a song about grief—about how you carry that feeling of loss with you every single day,” says Mutlu. “That absence stays with you.”
It’s an apt summation from an artist whose music has long been defined by its emotional precision. “You Remain” follows “The Mad King,” both singles from the Turkish-American singer, guitarist and songwriter’s forthcoming self-released LP, Lonesome Dreamery.
Produced by Brian McTear and Amy Morrissey at Philadelphia’s Miner Street Recordings, the album features contributions from War On Drugs’ Charlie Hall (drums) and Robbie Bennett (keyboards). It locks into a sound Mutlu describes as cosmic indie soul, its R&B and indie influences distilled into Mutlu’s warm, expressive vocal style, which makes even the most complex feelings accessible.
We’re proud to premiere Mutlu’s “You Remain.” Look for Lonesome Dreamery early next year.
